Gary's Story

In today’s tale I wanted to share with you this very brief but no less encouraging event that happened to a man named Gary who wrote to me recently.

At first it was heart breaking to learn from him that in September his wife had passed away, but two days after his loss Gary was woken from sleep at about 8:30 in the morning, when he heard a noise as if something had fallen on the floor somewhere…

Not sure where the sound had come from he walked out of his room and to the kitchen where in the middle of the floor lay a fridge magnet.

Gary picked up the magnet to place it back on the fridge where it had been for years, recalling that this particular magnet had never fallen off before and noting that its strength of magnetism made it quite difficult to dislodge both before and since this day.

 However, he knew right away that the magnet falling from its place on the fridge was his wife sending him a message that she was ok; for of all the magnets that where on the fridge, the one that fell was the one the one that bore the words, “Be happy! You are Loved.”

 I quickly thanked Gary for sharing his very personal tale and wished him well. It is never easy saying goodbye to the one’s we love, but it is comforting to have this reminder that for many of us a good-bye might, by God’s grace, only be a see you again soon.

The Hobby Shop Ghost

       Today’s tale comes from  Quora User Marcia Mason , a former Mechanical Engineer who ran a small hobby machine shop, the location of which was not disclosed.     For a time Marcia had an employee called Terry, who, though a former veteran with a disability was a good machinist who worked the machines until he suddenly died one day of an apparent heart attack.     In life Terry had resided on sight in a small efficiency apartment above the shop and Marcia was left with the task of settling his estate before reorganizing the shop for the next possible employee.     It was during this time, as Marcia was taking inventory, that they discovered a special tool was missing and after searching in vain for some time Marcia shouted in frustration, “Where is it???”     Marcia was not expecting a reply. A Castle Haunting

Today’s tale is from Quora user, Wayne, who shared with me his brief encounter while visiting a castle in England on June 21st, 2009 at around 11:45 in the morning. Unfortunately, he did not disclose the exact location, but it could have been in any one of the 4000 or so castles scattered throughout England. In any case, Wayne, a computer scientist, found himself in the presence of 2 ladies dressed in medieval clothing. One sat at a small table while the other walked backwards and forwards. The room they were next to was dimly lit by candles and Wayne, who was carrying his son at the time, thought he had stumbled into a re-enactment of some kind, so he said to his boy, “We better get out of the way because they look quite busy.” Wayne then moved downstairs to find his wife and other son waiting for him below.
