A Castle Haunting

Today’s tale is from Quora user, Wayne, who shared with me his brief encounter while visiting a castle in England on June 21st, 2009 at around 11:45 in the morning. Unfortunately, he did not disclose the exact location, but it could have been in any one of the 4000 or so castles scattered throughout England. In any case, Wayne, a computer scientist, found himself in the presence of 2 ladies dressed in medieval clothing. One sat at a small table while the other walked backwards and forwards. The room they were next to was dimly lit by candles and Wayne, who was carrying his son at the time, thought he had stumbled into a re-enactment of some kind, so he said to his boy, “We better get out of the way because they look quite busy.” Wayne then moved downstairs to find his wife and other son waiting for him below. Today’s tale comes from Quora user Mark Mitram . When I announced to Quora that I was looking for true ghost stories that I could share on this channel Mark responded with the following tale, which he claimed would be short and boring, and yet, I would argue that often the short and boring stories are the most believable. Surely if a story wasn’t true it would tend toward hyperbole and indulge in too much excitement. But when someone offers a humble small tale about a random event, it does lend a sense of credibility to the tale. At least, to me it does. Today’s tale comes from Quora User Marcia Mason , a former Mechanical Engineer who ran a small hobby machine shop, the location of which was not disclosed. For a time Marcia had an employee called Terry, who, though a former veteran with a disability was a good machinist who worked the machines until he suddenly died one day of an apparent heart attack. In life Terry had resided on sight in a small efficiency apartment above the shop and Marcia was left with the task of settling his estate before reorganizing the shop for the next possible employee. My Mysterious Premonition

Today's tale is another of a more personal nature and involves a curious experience I had when I was in my early twenties involving an uncanny premonition. I was living in Brisbane Australia, sharing a house with two other people. For the purpose of this retelling we shall refer to them as Jack and Louise, as their real identities aren't necessary for the story. Both Jack and Louise owned dogs. Louise owned a beautiful female German Shepherd with strong protective maternal instincts, while Jack's dog was a slow elderly golden retriever who seldom reacted to much of anything. The German Shepherd would bark at the mention of a possible intruder whereas the golden retriever wouldn't budge for much of anything; o ne time I had to pick him up and get him out of the way when an angry poisonous snake crossed his path!
